Private Instruction

Private instruction is available for skaters of any afe and level.  Some skaters start off in a group setting while others prefer the individual instruction that private lessons offer.  Skaters will progress faster with skill progression and if skaters are interested in testing, competition, or shows, the coach will design a program set to music based on the skaters level.  Private insturcution costs range from $50-$84 per hour.

Semi-Private Instruction

Skaters who are of similar level can benefit from a shared lesson.  This works well with skaters who are looking to increase their lesson time with out breaking the budget.  Technical lessons can often be shared effectivly and can work for all levels of instruction.

ACT Classes

Advanced Competitive Training offers affordable group training with groups of 4-5 skaters.  We offer ACT lessons for jumps, spins,Adults, Edges, Powerskating, and program review.  These classes are usually done in two month packages for skaters who are part of the developmental and advanced programs.  This type of training benefits the skater by allowing for an affordable way to train so more time can be spent on the ice under the watchful eyes of a coach.

Off Ice Training

Once skaters join our developmental program, off ice classes will get added into a skaters training.  Off ice training plays a major role in developing those physicla athletic qualities which leads to improved self-confidence and mental fortitude.  The frequency of off ice training will depend on the levle, goals, and schedule of the skater.  Off ice training will help skaters develop at a faster pace and will help handle the demands of jumping, spinning, and performance of each skater. One of the greatest benefits of off ice training is to incorporate strength and balance training is to reduce the chance of injury.  Off ice training can be done in a group or a private setting and can also be scheduled virtually.

Virtual Meetings/Consultations

Skater consultations, goal setting, and budget meetings can be set up to help skaters stay on target throughout the skating season.  Virtual meetings are an effective way to go over goal setting, periodization, lesson schedule, off ice training program, and post competition evaluations.  In person consultations can also be scheduled.  Keeping on top of skater goals and reassessing them regularly will help keep the skater on track and help them attain the goals they have set for the season.

Competitions

Competitions are available at every age and level.  Skaters usually start off with recreational competitions which emphasize fun and participation in addition to skill progression.  This approach helps build confidence while skaters learn how to compete.  This progression help them prepare for more advanced levels of competition as the skater skill proficiency increases.  As skaters advance, they will be directed to join a US Figure Skating Figure Skating club so they can test and compete at qualifying events that lead up to the US National Figure Skating Championships.

Testing

When skaters are just begining their journey, they can participate in both ISI and Learn to Skate USA recreational testing programs.  These programs offer a skill-progression that includes a 'test' in order to advance to the next level.  The level you are at determines the level that you compete at.  As the skater gets into the Freestyle/FreeSkate levels in the ISI and Learn to Skate USA structures, we recommend that skaters join a figure skating club so they can test at more advanced levels.  ISI and Learn to Skate USA tests are usually conducted by the skating coach on freestyle ice, where US Figure Skating tests are done in front of a certified judging panel on clear ice.

Team Skating

There are many different types of team skating.  A competitive team is considered a group that has 3 or more skaters.  There are many different disciplines of team skating such as Ensemble, Production, Synchronized Team, Kaleidoskate, Formation Teams, Synchro Dance, and Team Compulsories.  Not every skater enjoys solo events so team skating offer skaters the opportunity to be part of a group.  Remember... skaters competing from the same rink/club are part of our skating family that we also refer to as a team or club.  When we go to ISI events, every skater earns points for each performance for their team/club.  Those points are tallied for everyone from your team/club.  The team/club with the most points at the end of an event earn team trophies.  These are awarded for the combined effort and sucesses from all of your teammates.

Skate Sharpening

Skate sharpening is available at RoseGarden Ice Arena.  If you need your skates sharpened, please contact Tiesha to set up an appointment.  All skaters with Matrix or Paramount bladed are recommended to go to Sharper Edge Sports in Peabody, MA.  These blades require a special holder to sharpen and these higher level blades also should be sharpened on a machine with a small wheel to properly sharpen up by the toe pick.  Email tieshask8@gmail.com for a shaprening appointment.
